2008/12/18 my fave albums of 08! I've never made a top 10 list before on this blog, and considering that it's almost my 5th year of writing here, I guess it's time for me to get on that. These are most likely not the best albums of all the albums that came out this year, but they are the ones that I loved and listened to over and over and over and over again. And to me that's what counts. Also I probably forgot 382592357 of them. Also, I am REALLY REALLY REALLY upset that there will be no more sparks. 1. My Dear Disco are basically a completely fresh and electro-disco-tastic group who hail from the Ann Arbor music scene and have been making waves since the release of their Dancethink LP in 2007. Several of the tracks, including the one below, were mixed by the amazing Mark Saunders who also worked with my faves Shiny Toy Guns on their debut "We Are Pilots." The only downside is that, while they are awesomely innovative and cool, some of their songs are just loooong and tend to jump the shark a little bit after a while which could prove problematic for your dance floor attention span. No matter, though, that is what the radio edit and the remix were invented for, right? My Dear Disco play December 10th at Mercury Lounge at 6:30. Oh man. December is so crazy. Everyone puts out top ten lists. Everyone has holiday parties. I am doing both of those things actually (top ten list soon ish, holiday party december 17th more info TBA). In the meantime, I'm gonna upload my blog with some things that I like. First of all, I used to not like Lily Allen. I have no idea why now. I'm sure there was some sound reasoning behind it, but regardless she has totally grown on me. I just read an interview with her in Nylon and she came across as so endearing and her songs are somehow totally fluffy and yet totally smart at the same time, which I think is hard to pull off (girl, I want a fuckload of diamonds too).
