today is tonight
They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. If that holds true, then I must be the way stronger than I thought I was since I survived the insanity that was Lollapalooza. I had such a fantastic time this year at the fest, with my personal highlights being FINALLY seeing Of Montreal, The Flaming Lips, QOTSA (yes, I didn't watch Wilco and people need to stop giving me shit about it thank you very much), Wolfmother, and the Secret Machines @ Darkroom. Good times.
The highlight of the weekend for me, however, was hanging out with Darren from the Changes and driving around downtown Chicago listening to their brand new album Today Is Tonight. While I had heard most of the songs before, either on their previous EPs or live in concert (since I did see them more than any other band last year), the album blew me away and the band sounds bigger, better, and more together than ever before. New tracks like "In The Dark" showcase the gentle and romantic nature of Darren's vocals, while "Such A Scene" is a let loose agressive rocker and "On A String"... has glockenspiel! You really can't beat that.

Today Is Tonight is on sale on Sept 26th on Drama Club Records and the band plans to return to NYC this fall! Sweet!
Here are some more Lollapalooza photos for you.
In other news, last night I had dinner with Rachael and we ended up talking about how happy the new remix of The Diggs "Everyone's Starting Over" makes us. The mix was done by Cassettes Won't Listen (another band that I really like a lot).

Finally, go see Tally Hall @ Knitting Factory THIS FRIDAY. They are on at 9pm. TALLY HAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!
