2008/05/30 friday favorite - new music from THE RAPTURE also known as "just one more reason that nora reeeeally wants a playstation 3." seriously, this track isn't even ON a cd, it's on the soundtrack to the new grand theft auto 4! what better backgrond music could one possibly ask for while beating hookers and jacking cars and whatnot. actually, don't answer that. this previously unreleased b-side track was produced by Timbaland (is there ANYTHING this man touches that doesn't pretty much turn to gold? except for maybe that new ashlee simpson wentz album, but we'll just ignore that for the moment), and to me sounds a great new direction for a band I already love to pieces. I saw them this year at SXSW, and felt like their performance was kind of "meh", which says a LOT considering that four or five years ago I used to practically WORSHIP this band. Every DJ I knew spun "Still In Love Song" on a regular basis. Tim sang almost all the songs (and I think he still should, honestly). The Killers opened for them at Bowery Ballroom. Sparks hadn't even been invented yet. Ah, those were the days. Apparently the Stills are "back, back, back," accourding to NME. So far, I like the hook of this new track more than anything from With Feathers, so that's probably a good sign.
